BRUSH: A Professional
Painting Company

FAQS (CONTINUED):

* Why is your estimate higher than the other estimate I got?

If someone is referring us, most likely they'll say that we are very good at what we do. We are perfectionists with our work. We ensure the job is done right. What they won't say is that we are cheap. Professionalism has its price and, like much else in life, you get what you pay for.

We are meticulous with our surface prep prior to painting, meaning that we aren’t just going to slap some paint on your walls. If your surfaces are not properly prepared, the finish is going to show the imperfections. We take the time to make necessary repairs prior to painting the surface which is part of what makes us a high quality painting company.

We also only use the highest quality products. This helps to ensure that your space looks good for years to come.

We also don’t contract our jobs out to subcontractors. When you hire Brush, you are getting OUR team on your job which ensures that we know that the project will be done right and up to our standards. Other companies will bid jobs and then subcontract them out to others, meaning that the people you meet and interact with during the bidding process may not even be doing your job for you. That is never a concern with us.

We understand we are not the painting company for every customer- that’s okay. Although we’d love to win every job that we bid, we refuse to do a job halfway to cut costs or sacrifice quality in order to do so. We take pride in our work and want to engage with customers who can appreciate that and desire that type of workmanship for their project. Paying for a high quality job saves money in the long run as you won’t need to pay to correct poor quality work or get another paint job because the one you received for a cheaper price doesn’t last.

*What do you charge for painting cabinets?

This is always a big question. There is no mystery to it- let us put this out there for you. This saves everyone a lot of time and energy. We like to be as transparent as possible with our customers.

A good way to get a baseline for pricing is to count the number of doors/drawers that you have in your kitchen. Each door/drawer is generally around $100 to complete. Let's say an average kitchen has between 30-40 doors/drawers. If you are only looking to get the doors/drawers done, without any additional work in the home or without getting any individualized work done on the cabinets such as grain filling, hole filling, repair work, special detailing, etc., then you are probably looking at around $3,000 to $4,000. This is just a baseline ballpark guideline, but it can help to give you some perspective.

Some people are shocked at the price, believing it to be way too high. But there is no guess work involved. This is what it costs for us to do a quality, durable job that will not only make your cabinets look amazing, but make them LAST. We use only the best products and are precise with our work. If someone can do them for less, hopefully the quality of their work lives up to your expectation. Again, you get what you pay for. To paint your cabinets yourself is also an option- there are plenty of Youtube videos out there. They make it look easy! But- it is a time-consuming undertaking for a DIY project and potentially quite frustrating without the correct environment and equipment. A process that may take a month to DIY can be done within a week in our shop.

Conversely, other people are shocked at the price, believing it to be far lower than they imagined. Especially as customers have told us that when they looked into getting a new set of kitchen cabinets, those could run you from $20,000-$50,000. Comparatively, painting your cabinets with us is a fraction of that price.

All things to keep in mind- do your own research to make informed decisions.

*What is your process for painting cabinets?

First, the cabinet doors would be removed and brought back to the shop to be worked on. All doors will be sanded, coated with extreme bond primer, and sprayed multiple coats of paint. The cabinet boxes will be worked on in your home and completed using the same process as the doors. We use a sander with a HEPA filter which eliminate 99.9% of the dust. All floors are completely covered with rosin paper to protect them. Then, boxes will be brushed and rolled with a foam roller. When the doors and drawers are done being painted, they will be allowed to cure for the appropriate amount of time to ensure durability during transport back to your home. Finally, all cabinet doors/drawers will then be gently reinstalled in the kitchen.

*Do we need to remove everything from our cabinets prior to you arriving to complete the cabinet painting?

We recommend that you do, but this is up to you. We do sand the lip on the inside of the boxes during the course of the project. We use sanders with a HEPA vacuum and we do everything we can to prevent dust, and we do prevent 99% of the dust. However, if you choose to leave your things in the cabinets, the items can be hit with a bit of dust. We don't mind if it's left in there, but it's up to you and your preference.

We are not a cheap painting company.

We pay our employees well- a livable wage which befits their hard work and dedication. We are a legitimate business with full insurance, both Liability and Worker’s Compensation. Our employees are on the books and pay taxes appropriately. We care about our employees and want them to be paid what they are worth and work for a company they can be proud of.

Additionally, we care about our customers. We refuse to compromise quality in order to get every job we bid or be the cheapest company in the area.

What we can promise is, we treat every job as though we were completing it on our own home/business. We are not satisfied until the customer is.
